Construction of the digitization infrastructure for culture on-line

Budowa infrastruktury digitalizacyjnej dla kultury w sieci

Project completed (September 2011 – July 2012)
Total amount for the task: 1,697,408.45 pln gross

The aim of the project was to create digitization infrastructure, enabling a substantive and photographic compilation of the collection of the National Museum in Krakow in order to make it available on-line.

The task involved a number of project activities – the digitization studio equipment was modernized and supplemented through the purchase of photographic accessories and lighting. The telecommunication networks in the Museum branches were expanded and modernized, including the Main Building, the Józef Mehoffer House, the Princes Czartoryski Library, the Jan Matejko House and the Feliks Jasieński Szołayski House. In order to facilitate the work of photographers and professional staff working on the digitized objects, a wi-fi network was installed in the Main Building, both in storage areas and in the galleries. In order to increase the security of the obtained images, an emergency power system was purchased and installed in the central server room of the Main Building. Another purchase included servers and discs arrays for the central server room of the Main Building.

The project also involved the purchase of a license for software used for electronic records as well as for cataloguing museum collections and managing museum processes. The workstations of collection custodians were equipped through the purchase of new computer hardware and software.
