Infrastructure for the 'Mediateka' of the National Museum in Krakow

The aim of the project was to create technical infrastructure for the digitization of audiovisual materials, allowing for professional creation of audiovisual documentation and making it possible to present it to the public through a website.

The intended goals have been achieved through the creation of a digitization studio for video, audio and photographic materials, functioning on the basis of the professional equipment purchased for this purpose (a scanning camera, non-linear editing set with software and hardware). The equipment made it possible to carry out the digitization of the audiovisual materials in accordance with the current standards for digital image and sound archiving.

The task also involved purchasing equipment used for creating ongoing documentation such as a digital camera with professional gear. In addition, work results are presented on a website which provides access to audiovisual archive materials to a wide range of interested people.

Digitization of the collection was not the object of the task, though a fragment of the set of photographs which constitute the NMK archival resources was scanned with the camera purchased as part of the project and digitized with a digital camera. The audio-visual and audio documentation was also transferred onto digital format using the purchased equipment.

The digitization of photographs resulted in digital copies, which provide security and are made available to users.
